UniShelf Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026
UniShelf is an offline-first academic workspace. We built it so your study materials stay on your device and under your control. This policy explains what data UniShelf handles and how.
Data stored on your device
Your notes, documents, presentations, spreadsheets, scanned files, schedules and app settings are stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted to us.
Cloud sync (optional)
If you choose to connect your own Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive account, UniShelf syncs the files you select to that account using credentials you authorize. UniShelf does not operate its own file servers and does not receive copies of your documents. You can disconnect a cloud account at any time.
On-device OCR & intelligence
Optical character recognition and study insights run locally on your device. The text extracted from your images or documents is processed on-device and is not sent to any server.
Anonymous usage count
To understand how many people use UniShelf, the app may report a minimal, anonymous signal (for example a basic install/active count). This does not include your documents, names, or contacts and is not used to identify you personally.
Permissions
UniShelf requests only the permissions needed for features you use — such as storage access to open and save files, and the camera for UniScan. Permissions are requested in context and can be managed in your device settings.
Children & students
UniShelf is intended for university students and general academic use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as UniShelf evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
